Formerly known as the S.S. United States, the ship was purchased by the Texas Navy with the intent to have it serve as a luxury liner transporting the citizens of the Republic around the Caribbean. However, during times of conflict it could be easily converted into a troop transport when needed given it's immense size and tremendous speed.
 

Unfortunately, the ship was not the Republic of Texas very long. It was on its maiden voyage under the new name and had just left the Bahamas on its way to Bermuda when it disappeared. A fishing boat reported seeing the ship leave the island chain and head into what appeared to be a cloud bank. Nothing was ever heard or found of the missing ship.
